Frequently asked questions

Leasing a vehicle might seem complicated, especially for someone that has never considered anything other than buying.

Hopefully the following will answer some of your questions, and if you think of any more just give us a call, we are here to help you.

Why are people now deciding to lease cars rather than purchase?

Everyone who drives a car incurs a cost which can be broken down to a monthly figure. Even if you negotiate yourself a low purchase price, or buy a second hand car, the chances are you are paying thousands a year in depreciation, servicing, MOT’s and so on. Monthly leasing costs are often lower, and for a brand new car. You can lease a new car with minimum upfront costs or initial rental, fixed monthly rentals, no risk, using someone elses money, it speaks for itself!

How long is the contract hire or lease period?

Our contracts range from 18 months to 5 years depending on the vehicle and contract chosen.

What is the initial deposit?

While a minimum one payment upfront is available, typically an initial deposit of 3 monthly payments is required. Larger deposits can be given to reduce the monthly payment.

When is the initial rental and monthly payments taken?

Dates for initial rental and monthly payments are dependent upon the finance provider. Some providers take the initial rental within 7 days of delivery of the vehicle, whilst others take payment before delivery is booked. Monthly payments are usually taken one month after delivery of the vehicle on a date set by the finance provider.

Who Supplies the vehicles?

All our vehicles are supplied through the relevant vehicle manufacturers UK dealer network

Do vehicles have a warranty?

Yes, all our vehicles come with the full UK manufacturer’s warranty.

Will the contract include Road Fund Licence?

Yes, all vehicles are supplied with at least 12 months RFL from date of registration. Certain types of contract such as Business Contract Hire and Personal Contract Hire include RFL for the full term.

Is roadside assistance included?

Yes, all vehicles include either 12 months or 3 years breakdown recovery, depending on the manufacturer.

Is car insurance included in the lease?

The lease contract does not include insurance. Every quote criteria is always different, customer age, vehicle type, lease agreement length etc making it impossible to cost insurance within the lease price. However, we do have excellent relationships with a number of insurance companies who can provide you with a quote.

What if I exceed the agreed mileage on the contract?

As the value of the vehicle is affected by a higher mileage, you will be asked to contribute at a pre determined rate. This is written into the agreement so that you know in advance what the charges will be.

As an example if the excess was 4 pence per mile then for 1000 miles over contract you would be charged £40.

Can I change the mileage?

Yes, if the mileage that you estimate at the start is too low, depending on the type of contract, this can be re-quoted and re-scheduled.

Is maintenance included?

Maintenance is an optional cost and includes all servicing, tyres, brakes, exhaust, battery and labour. Please ask for further details.

Do I have to have the car serviced by a main dealer?

With a non maintenance agreement it is your choice. With a lease vehicle or a vehicle within its warranty period it is very important that genuine parts are used and service book is always stamped. There are exceptions, like Audi or VW who usually insist on main dealer servicing, depending on how the vehicle is funded.

What happens when I need a vehicle serviced or repaired?

If you included maintenance in the contract you will receive a maintenance contact number from the finance company from which you can book the vehicle into a local approved garage. Upon request you may also be able to request free vehicle collection and delivery, or a courtesy vehicle.

Is delivery and collection included?

We offer free UK mainland delivery, where your vehicle will be driven to your required destination. Delivery can be made by transporter, but will incur a fee. Collection is included.

What are my options at the end of the contract?

This depends on the type of contract taken but usually you can either hand the car back, extend the contract, or purchase the vehicle from the finance company or third party (dependent upon the funder).

Can I end the agreement early?

Yes, an early termination quotation can be requested.

Do I own the vehicle?

No, with contract hire the vehicle remains the funder’s property throughout the duration of the contract. But this also means that the funder carries the depreciation risk for the vehicle.

Do I need to complete an MOT for my lease car?

An MOT is only required for vehicle over three years old. Consequently, you will only need to obtain an MOT certificate if your lease term exceeds three years.

How long will it take to receive my vehicle?

We will advise you before taking and processing your order, what the estimated delivery time will be. This will be exactly the same time as if you ordered the vehicle yourself from a dealership. The vehicle may be in stock, or it may be a factory order from the manufacturer. Delivery times consequently vary from about 10 days to 12 weeks, or longer…so plan ahead!
